A ton of recycled paper (2000 pounds) can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil and 7000 gallons of water. If each person were to reuse a paper shopping bag for just one trip to the store, we would save 60,000 trees. Recycling a 4 foot stack of papers saves one 40 foot fir tree. One tree filters up to 60 lbs. of pollutants from the air per year. One ton of recycled paper saves 3700 lbs of lumber, 24,000 gallons of water, uses 64% less energy, 50% less water, 74% less air pollution, saves 17 trees and creates 5 times more jobs.
